Wat Saket and The Golden Mount 

Wat Saket and The Golden Mount   Wat Saket, one of the oldest temples in Bangkok, was built by King Rama I in the late 18th century
. The first Golden Mount was built by King Rama III but the soft soil led to its collapse. The Golden Mount which is seen today, created by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V).



The golden chedi houses relics of Lord Buddha from India.The 318 steps, 76 metres (250 ft.) high offer views over Rattanakosin Island and overlooks Ratchadamnoen Avenue.

Every November a large festival, held on the ground of Wat Saket, includes a candlelight procession up the  Golden Mountain.
